About The Judy Project
Kara McIver launched The Judy Project (TJP Nutrition) in 2020 as a Human Nutrition graduate student. Her mission is to educate young to middle-aged adults on chronic disease prevention through nutrition and lifestyle changes. You can reduce your risk of developing diabetes, heart disease, cancer, hypertension, arthritis, dementia, even if you have a family history.
Let me teach you what to do and how to do it!

About Kara
Kara McIver
I have recently completed my Master’s degree in Human Nutrition and will be soon be taking (and passing!) the Registered Dietitian credentialing exam. My previous career was in public relations and in my newfound free time, I enjoy functional fitness, baking and spending time outdoors with my dogs. My three favorite foods are eggs, potatoes and blueberries but you won’t see me turn down ice cream or a freshly made donut.
Judy was my grandmother and I started this business in her honor. She lived with Type II Diabetes for most of her adult life and the whole time I knew her. I never felt like she received any nutrition or fitness education that was applicable and actionable in her life and I hope to provide that for others. I worried that I was fated for a lifetime of chronic disease based on my genetics, but that’s just not true. If you worry about your health because of your family history, how you lived and ate in your adolescence or your environment while growing up, let’s work together to change your health trajectory.
I’ll never put you “on a diet”, rather, we’ll start where you’re at and meaningfully improve your habits in a way that makes sense for you.
